The “No connection” error and other connectivity issues are usually caused by a temporary network problem, a firewall, a VPN, or an antivirus app blocking Grammarly’s connection. To resolve this issue, follow the instructions below.
Step 1: Check your internet connection
- Turn the airplane mode on, wait 10 seconds, then turn it off. This resets your device’s network connections without affecting any saved settings.
- If you’re on Wi-Fi, turn it off and back on, or switch to mobile data (4G/5G) to rule out a router issue.
- If you’re on mobile data, open your browser and check that you can load a webpage.
- If you’re on Wi-Fi and other devices on the same network are also affected, restart your router.
Step 2: Check for software interference
Security software on your device can block Grammarly’s connection. To prevent it, follow these steps:
- Temporarily turn off any firewall, VPN, or antivirus app running on your device.
- Open Grammarly and check if the issue is resolved.
If this helps, it indicates that the security software was blocking Grammarly. Add Grammarly to the allowed list of that software, then re-enable it. See your security software’s documentation for instructions on how to do this.
Step 3: Try a different network
If the steps above haven’t helped, the issue may be specific to your current network or internet service provider. Try these steps:
- Try connecting from a different location. For example, switch from your home network to a mobile hotspot, or try a different Wi-Fi network.
- Open Grammarly and check if the issue is resolved.
If Grammarly works on a different network, the issue is likely with your local network configuration or internet service provider.
