If Grammarly is open but no suggestions appear, this is usually caused by a stuck background connection. To resolve this, follow the instructions below for your device.
Note: If you’re not seeing the Grammarly widget at all, see this article instead: Grammarly for Android disappears or doesn’t show up when I try to use it instead
Before you start
Restart your device first. This clears any temporary background states that may be preventing suggestions from appearing.
After restarting, open Grammarly and check whether suggestions appear. If they don’t, proceed to the next steps.
Ensure the text you’re working with is long enough for Grammarly to analyze. The Grammarly app requires a minimum amount of text to generate suggestions. If your text is very short or contains only a few words, no suggestions will appear, which is expected behavior.
Additionally, confirm that your device is connected to the internet and that you’re not using a VPN or firewall that may be blocking Grammarly’s connection:
- Open your device’s settings, go to Network or Connections, and try to fix or reset network settings if such an option is available.
- Reboot your Wi-Fi router. If you’re using 4G or 5G, try accessing the internet using your browser.
- Temporarily turn off your VPN and antivirus app (if you’re using them on your mobile device).
- Try using Grammarly from another location (office, home, etc.) where the internet service provider is different.
