Inline Intelligence lets you polish your writing right where you’re typing without switching tabs or copying text into another tool. Select any text you’re editing, and Inline Intelligence can proofread it, rephrase it, shorten it, or follow a custom instruction you type in. Each result appears in a rewrite card, so you can review the change before you accept it.
Availability
Inline Intelligence works in the Superhuman browser extension for Chrome. You can use it on editable text across the web, such as email drafts, documents, and text fields.
What you can do
When you select text, Inline Intelligence gives you four ways to rework it:
- Proofread: Corrects grammar, spelling, and punctuation while keeping your original wording.
- Rephrase: Rewrites your text to improve clarity and flow.
- Shorten: Tightens your text so it’s more concise.
- Custom prompt: Type your own instruction — for example, “make this more formal” — and Inline Intelligence rewrites the text to match.
How to use Inline Intelligence
- Select your text. Highlight any editable text. The Superhuman icon appears at the lower-right edge of your selection.
- Click the icon. The Inline Intelligence menu opens.
- Choose an option. Select Proofread, Rephrase, or Shorten, or type your own instruction in the prompt field at the top of the menu.
- Review the rewrite. The result appears in a rewrite card, where you can compare it with your original text before you apply it.
Reviewing suggestions
Every option produces a rewrite card, so nothing changes on its own. You’re always in control — review each suggestion, make sure it says what you mean, and accept it only when you’re happy with it.
Good to know
Inline Intelligence is a new feature, so you may occasionally see results that need a second look. As with any AI-assisted writing, we recommend reviewing suggestions before you send or publish your text.
