Error: "It looks like you're using the Mac version of Grammarly for Microsoft Office, which doesn't work with your current operating system"

This error message can occur when the Microsoft Store mistakenly offers to install Grammarly for Microsoft Word on Windows.

This is due to a bug in the Microsoft Store: Grammarly for Microsoft Word on Mac should not activate in Microsoft Word on Windows.

Grammarly for Microsoft Word on Mac was recently discontinued

Follow the steps below to remove this Grammarly product offering from Microsoft Word on Windows: 

  1. Open Microsoft Word.
  2. In the Home menu, navigate to Add-ins:

  3. Select either See all or More Add-ins:
     

  4. Find and click Manage your apps in the left corner.

     


     

  5. Uninstall Grammarly for Microsoft Word by clicking the three dots next to its title and selecting Remove
     

 

Note: If you can't uninstall Grammarly for Microsoft Word for Mac by following these steps, your Microsoft Office installation may be managed by your organization. In that case, contact your local IT administrator and ask them to remove it from your Microsoft account.

Afterward, switch to Grammarly for Windows to access Grammarly services in Microsoft Word.
