Fact Checker user guide

The Fact Checker agent helps you evaluate the accuracy of your claims by flagging information that is contradicted or disputed. It surfaces relevant sources so you can review the evidence directly, and optionally provides example rewrites that show how a claim could be aligned with recent research.

Availability

The Fact Checker agent is available in docs for Grammarly Free users, Grammarly Pro, and Grammarly Plus subscribers. Grammarly Free users have limited access to the Fact Checker agent’s functionality.

For Grammarly Enterprise, Grammarly Business, and Grammarly for Education users, the Fact Checker agent is accessible when docs are enabled by the subscription admin. Admins can adjust agent access for team members on the Agent access page.

How to use

To scan your text for factual claims and spot disputed statements, launch the Fact Checker agent by clicking its icon on the agents tab on the right side:

The Fact Checker agent will search trusted sources and check your text to detect any statements that conflict with or are disputed by current research. The agent will also flag debated information and degenerate suggestions to improve your work.

The claims listed are divided into two categories:

  • Debated claims
  • Contradicted claims

To review each category, hover over the corresponding bar appearing on the left side of your text:

You can either dismiss the suggestion by clicking the Dismiss button or review how the claim could be rephrased to align with the current evidence covered in the chosen source by clicking the Show sample revision button.

Additionally, you can also pick your preferred citation style for the revised claim from the dropdown menu at the bottom right of the Fact Checker agent panel. You can select between non-academic, APA, MLA, and Chicago style.
