Manage client apps controls

Who has access:
Grammarly Enterprise admins

Grammarly is committed to strong data privacy principles for all users. You can specify additional restrictions for your team on what content or data Grammarly can access.

The client apps controls feature allows Enterprise admins to specify which Grammarly product offerings are available to the members of your Grammarly account.

Client controls allow admins to change the availability settings (Available or Blocked) for the members of your organization for the following Grammarly products:

  • Grammarly Editor
  • Grammarly for Windows
  • Grammarly for Mac
  • Grammarly browser extensions
  • Grammarly for Mobile

If the setting is changed to “Blocked” for a specific Grammarly app, the app can be installed but will not work for the affected members.

To configure client apps controls, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Home page, open the Organization tab → Enterprise SecurityClient apps.
  2. To change the availability of a specific Grammarly app, click on the Available setting and select Blocked from dropdown menu.
  3. In the window that opens next, select who this client application should be blocked for:
    • If you want to block that specific Grammarly application for every member in your organization, select Entire organization. Once you save this setting, no members of your organization will be able to use the blocked Grammarly app.
    • If you want to block the Grammarly application only for specific member groups, select Specific groups and choose which groups this client control will be applied to. Optionally, you can select Make this an admin controlled group if you also want to limit the ability to delete a specified group or remove members from that group only to admins. You can learn more in this article: How to organize members into groups
  4. Click Save.

Once this setting is saved, the affected members of your organization will not be able to use the blocked Grammarly client.

You can always change the availability settings for client applications on the Client apps page by changing the access setting from “Blocked” to “Available.”
