What do I need in order to use Grammarly?

Many computers come with a pre-installed Internet browser. Some examples are Safari on Mac and Microsoft Edge on Windows.

Grammarly Editor is supported on Google Chrome 37+, Safari 8+, Firefox 38+, Internet Explorer 11+ (including Microsoft Edge).

Grammarly Browser Extension

Grammarly offers a free browser extension for Google Chrome 37+, Safari 8+, Firefox 38+.

Grammarly for Microsoft®Office

The following system requirements must be met to operate the Grammarly for Microsoft add-in on Windows:

  • Compatible operating systems: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10.
  • Microsoft® Office: 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016.

Please note: Grammarly does not work with Trial, Starter, or Click-to-Run versions of Office or with Vista or XP.

Grammarly's Native App

The following system requirements must be met to install and operate the native app on your computer:

For Windows: Windows 7, Windows, 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10

For Mac: Mac OS X 10.8 and higher.

  • Please note: Grammarly is an online application, which means your computer must be connected to the Internet.
