How to send advanced user diagnostic information to Grammarly

General Instructions (Overview)

  1. Enable Diagnostics
  2. Reopen MS Word or Outlook
  3. Use Grammarly until the issue appears again
  4. Send diagnostic information to Grammarly (see How to Enable Diagnostics and How to Send Diagnostic Information to Grammarly below)
  5. Forward us your generated identifier ("troubleshooting request ID") in a support ticket
  6. Disable diagnostics

How to Enable Diagnostics

  1. Open the Grammarly tab in MS Word or Outlook
  2. Click the About button
  3. Click Diagnostics… at the bottom of the About window
  4. Click Yes in the dialog window that opens next

How to Send Diagnostic Information to Grammarly

  1. Open the Grammarly tab in MS Word or MS Outlook
  2. Click the About button
  3. Click on Send user activity data to Grammarly at the bottom of the About window
  4. Click Yes in the dialog window
  5. Copy the text with your identifier from the new message window (see image)
  6. Send the copied identifier to Grammarly Support.

How to Disable Diagnostics

  1. Open the Grammarly tab in MS Word or Outlook
  2. Click the About button
  3. Click Disable diagnostics… at the bottom of the About window
  4. Click Yes in the dialog window

Additional Instructions

If Grammarly works in MS Word but not in MS Outlook

  1. Enable Diagnostics in Word
  2. If the Grammarly tab doesn’t appear in Outlook, enable it by following the instructions at How to enable the Grammarly Add-in
  3. Run Outlook and use Grammarly there (if you can) until the issue occurs again
  4. Send the diagnostics information to Grammarly from Word (see above)
  5. Disable diagnostics in MS Word

If Grammarly works in MS Outlook but not in MS Word

  1. Enable diagnostics in MS Outlook
  2. If the Grammarly tab doesn’t appear in MS Word, enable it by following the instructions at How to enable Grammarly Add-in
  3. Run MS Word and use Grammarly there (if you can) until the issue appears again
  4. Send the diagnostics information to Grammarly from Outlook (see above)
  5. Disable diagnostics from MS Outlook
