I see a blank box when I click the G icon on the toolbar

If your browser language preference is set to any non-Latin language, you may experience the following issues with the latest version of Grammarly for Chrome:

  • A blank pop-up box appears when you click on the G icon 
  • There's no G icon in the text fields where you enter your text

To fix this issue, we suggest that you update the encoding. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to chrome:settings/fonts
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the window that opens
  3. Set Encoding to Unicode (UTF-8)
  4. Click Done

If your Firefox language preference is set to any non-Latin language, you might experience the following issues with the latest version of Grammarly for Firefox:

  • A blank pop-up box appears when you click on the G icon
  • There's no G icon in the text fields where you enter your text

To fix it, we suggest that you update the encoding. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to about:preferences#content
  2. Click Advanced next to Fonts & Colors 
  3. Select Central European, ISO in Fallback Text Encoding
  4. Click OK

If your Safari language preference is set to any non-Latin language, you might experience the following issues with the latest version of Grammarly for Safari.

  • A blank pop-up appears when you click the G icon
  • There is no G icon in the text areas

To troubleshoot this, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to Safari > Preferences
  2. Select Advanced settings 
  3. Change the default encoding to Unicode UTF-8
  4. In PreferencesPrivacy, uncheck Prevent cross-site tracking and Block all cookies
  5. In Preferences > Security, select Enable JavaScript
  6. Find the Develop menu in the Safari toolbar and ensure that Disable JavaScript and Disable Extensions are unchecked
  7. Close Safari (Cmd+Q) for the changes to take effect.
