Windows XP, Office 2010, installation goes well (or so it seems), no menu in Office 2010.

I signed up for the yearly  subscription and now I find out it is not compatible for the 2010 version I am using. I will be paying for something that will not benefit my needs at the moment.

I'm a new user, (Purchased today) It is now sept 3rd and i can not correct my essays. there is no blue buttons to push only an advertisment to upgrade my account. I have Word 2010. This has been a problem since since March. If i don't get a response with a date of repair I'll be cancelling and going to another service.

Valerie  I did what you said and I have some numbers about my word program however I am still not clear what numbers indicate 34 or 64bit.  It says I have version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 built 2600.  Processor: X86 Family Model 13 Stepping 8 Genuinelntel  1695mhz (mega hertz).  I downloaded the software and it stated that is was installed and the I had access to the file yet I never did.  There was no tool bar or any information regarding the program.  Also when I initially downloaded the information there was four icons and then a folder with four other icons.  Two of the icons state setup and I am not even clear as to the reason for the other two icons but my computer could not recognize the file type.  Please let me know where to go from here.  Should I just uninstall this and assume it will not work for my computer?  The version I downloaded was from the bar across my screen, I am assuming that was the most up to day version?  Any thought would be helpful.

I've downloaded the latest add-in and it doesn't show up on my Word 2007 either. Nor does it appear as an icon on my desktop or in the list of programs. It's a shame because I'm still on the free trial version but have just signed up for a year's subscription and fin the software very helpful. Let's hope you can get the add-in up and running before too long.

I down loaded the add-in after having a year long subscription and all I get is a prompt to upgrade, I guess I too need to shop else where.

It worked for one day and the add in disappeared. This product is unacceptable.

Do you mean I just purchased this add -inand it doesn't work!!  I don't need any aggravation!!! Why would Grammarly offer something knowing it will not work? What is the deal.  I downloaded the software but can't figure out how to get it to work.

I'm not happy!

Oops! I apologize.  After opening and closing Microsoft Office 2010 twice -- it went into a "configuration mode" and added Grammarly as a choice in the tool bar.

I'm Happy!

I just bought this program and downloaded it and it worked for an hour and is now gone. None of the suggestions worked. I will be cancelling this if it is not resolved in a bit. Very frustrating to buy a product and have it not work on the first day.

Dear Carinine, William, Becky, Sharmaine, Margarita, Irene, Gary,

There are two reasons why Grammarly tab/button disappeared from your Word document:

1.  If you were installing the plug-in while Word or Outlook has already been started.

2.  If an error occurred while the plugin was working and it got disabled. (Re-installing doesn't help in this case.)

The SOLUTION is easy -- you'll need to enable the disabled plugin.

You can run the attached program (Enable_Grammarly.exe) in order to enable the plugin:

- Run the file attached to this comment and

- Click on "Enable Grammarly addin". (If it didn't work, please right-click on the file and select "run as administrator" to run it as an administrator).

Alternatively, for those who would like to enable the addin manually from within Word, here are the instructions:

Word 2003
Help - About Microsoft Word - Disabled Items.
Select Grammarly and press Enable.

Word 2007
Round button - Word Options - Add-ins. In the windows that appears - Manage. In the list select Grammarly and check it with a tick.

Word 2010
File - Word Options - Add-ins. Select in the window that appears - Manage. In the list select Grammarly and check it with a tick.

Many apologies for the inconveniences, and I hope this helps. If you encounter any issues, please let us know by creating a support ticket at support.grammarly.com

Dear Lindsey,

It looks like you had an old version of the add-in. You are right in that if you uninstall the add-in and then install the latest version of it, it should work.

1. Uninstall your current version of Grammarly Add-In (via Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs)

2. Download the latest version from http://www.grammarly.com/desktop/ and follow the instructions of that page to install it.

3. Then, open any text document in MS Word, find Grammarly's Check button in the toolbar and press Check.

4. Enter your Grammarly account e-mail and password if prompted.

5. You should see the Grammarly sidebar with four tabs: Grammar, Spelling, Synonyms and Plagiarism. It should say Checking... and then start displaying suggestions.

If any of these steps fail, please tell us which one and send us a screenshot if you can. That would really help us investigate possible issues.

Dear all,

For anyone with further questions, I thought it would be useful to summarize some current add-in issues and their solutions:

1. When installing the add-in you must close Word and Outlook, otherwise the button will appear only after the restart.

2. The button does not appear if Word is running in a non-standard mode (it goes into a "configuration mode").

3. The button can disappear because of errors in the add-in or if your Word was closed incorrectly.
Word should display a message that the session was completed incorrectly and offer to disable Grammarly plugin. If you click yes, the button disappears. Unfortunately, in this case, reinstalling does not help -- you'll need to enable the plug-in in the MS Office by using a program Enable_Grammarly.exe (it can be found as an attachment here).

4. If the program on a panel to your right asks you to "Upgrade now", it is necessary that you contact us at support.grammarly.com by creating a ticket and we will investigate your specific case.

5. If the program throws an error -- please use the link "Send report to developers". This will send error information to the development team.
