Short manual:

1. Login to Grammarly using your authorization data.

2. Once you login, please copy your text and paste it into Grammarly  (click Paste on Grammarly toolbar; use CTRL-C, CTRL-V combination).

3. Click the "Start Review" button to check the text.

4. Once the text is analyzed, Grammarly will show your text with different types of alerts highlighted. You can see a high-level report summarizing your errors by clicking on the Summary link in the upper right-hand corner of the page. To see individual error explanations and suggestions, click on the tabs with blue circles on the right side of the page.

5. You can change the highlighted alerts by clicking on the actual alert and on suggested replacements in the right box, which will appear.

6. Once you are done with Alerts, Grammarly will offer you to review the warnings. A warning can be corrected by paraphrasing the sentence or a part of it.

7. Once you have finished your corrections, please click "Synonyms" to begin enhancing your text. Grammarly will offer a number of suggestions (synonyms and word insertions) that will enhance the quality of your document with clear, compelling and sophisticated wording. These changes can be made the same way as with the alerts (click on your preferred suggestion).

Please note that not all suggestions need to be implemented -- you can decide which suggestions best complement your writing style.

Okay, I corrected my text and I loved the product. But when I tried to put it back into Word... Word couldn't open the document. So does that mean I have to manually insert changes into my existing document so I can continue working? Or is there another way to resolve this?

Dear Mr. Williams,

May I suggest selecting your old text and clicking on Cut button above Grammarly text field ( or use a combination of Ctrl+X buttons). This will remove your previously checked paper. After that you will be able to paste the text you want to check into Grammarly text field.

In order to paste your new text, simply copy your text from Word or any other processor and paste it to Grammarly. You may use CTRL-C, CTRL-V combination as well as the context menu from the right button mouse.

I am not able to make corrections on the document I pasted into the box. I can double click and replace a synonym but, I can't make a simple correction to change spelling, or suggestions for conditional sentences.

After pasting the edited text on a world file I wanted to align the text as ‘justify’. But, the text did not align correctly though it looked like 'Justify'. In some lines there was too much space between words (like a Tab distance). I could not delete those spaces because if I delete them two words become one!!!

It is not checking my text i pasted.  It checks for the same issues repeatedly after about 5%.  I thought my text was too long so I pasted a couple of sentences and it is still not properly working.

Dear Grammar,

I have subscribed to your service and am pleased, thus far. I attempted to connect the service through Microsoft Word, as per the instructions posted with the 'Grammar Add-on', and have had no success. I am wondering if someone could address the issue of add-on failure. Everything went quite normally, but I can find no additional tool bar. Though the program has a place to 'tick' for grammar checking, it is not half of what information is available here. Thank you.

Dear Mr. Russell,

You probably have the 32- or 64-bit version of Office 2010. Grammarly is not compatible with it at the moment. We are currently working on new log-in version which will be ready by summer. We appreciate your patience.

When I downloaded Grammerly as a word Addon I thought it would work inside my word docs.  It requires that I log in, but doesn't recognize my email address, or password.  In fact when I log in via the website I've had to reset my password every time because it doesn't believe that I use the correct password.  How can I resolve this?

Is there a way to correct my document, inside of word or does it automatically connect to your website, where I have to paste the info into your clipboard and then re-paste back to my doc?

Dear Floyd,

Grammarly Microsoft add-in copies and sends your text to Grammarly editor box. In order for Grammarly to check your text, you must have an active Internet connection and be logged into Grammarly.com. Unfortunately at the moment it is not compatible with some versions of Office.

Alternatively, you can use Grammarly.com service by copy/pasting on the Web:

1. Login to Grammarly using your authorization data.
2. Once you login, please copy your text and paste it into Grammarly
(Click Paste on Grammarly toolbar; use CTRL-C, CTRL-V combination).
3. Click the "Start Review" button to check the text.

Hello Grammarly!
I do not see a "Synonyms", like I see you've mentioned in previous replies. Aside from that, I also do not see a "General" paper type, like Helen Smith previously replied. Under my "Start Review" Button I only have options for Research Papers and the such. What is the problem, and also what setting would you suggest to use for writing a novel? Thank you for your response ahead of time!

Is there anyway to disable synonyms in the Micro Soft 2003 add in? I started checking a large document last night and after a couple of hours it showed over 5,000 synonym suggestions. I beleive this is also slowing it down. Also is there any way to start Grammarly in the center of a document without having to start over each time you turn your computer back on?

Dear Raymond,

Both things are not available in the current version of the add-in. We'll most likely add them later, but they are not scheduled yet. Until it becomes available, the company doesn't release information about features such as this in order to prevent us from setting expectations with a customer.

Do I use Creative review for my novel or General?

Although I am extremely happy with the services, I feel that it could work even better if you add a facility to customize the vocabulary lexicon for individual users.  Often it picks up technical words for spelling mistake. Also, sometimes it fails to register the suggested grammar change in the text.  I have encountered this problem when using the portal through google chrome, and while operating it from within the MS Word.  Another issue which is unclear to me is: what is the exact difference between different types of screening formats available usnder the "start review" menu of the software?

thanks,

krishanu.

Hi!

I'm trying to check a few lines of writing but the "Start review" button doesn't respond to my click.  I select creative text from the drop down menu, but  it stays dead, no reaction.  After I cut the document from the screen, the system activates the "Start review" button.  Hmmm...it doesn't seem to be working.

Dear Olga,

It sounds like you are using Firefox browser if the Start Review button doesn't work. The Firefox broswer has been updated and we are working on its compatibility. We suggest you use Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer when accessing Grammarly.
