Does anyone from Grammarly reads our comments? It's incredible that a mac version doesn't exists. We are in 2011: there are more mac users than PC. If at the end of my subscription a mac version doesn't exists I'll quit from Grammarly

I work at 3 different universities. While in the general population Mac users are a small percentage of the market the percentage in HE is, I'm guessing, about 25%.  That's a big chunk of the market to ignore.  Can you give a ETA for the Mac version?

You are ignoring a growing operating system by not creating an application that runs on Mac. When will Grammarly have an application ready for Mac OS 10.7.2 Lion?

With Macs being the fastest growing computer segment It is hard to believe there hasn't been a Mac version released yet.

OK,  so I have a Mac Book Pro.. .I was going to install office 2010, so I could then use the "ADD-IN"

Are you telling me it still won't work on my computer? Thank you!

You can use Grammarly on your Mac as I do by setting up an account (free for a while) and using their Website.  It isn't as convenient as having an Add-in on your word page but it accomplishes the same thing...you just have to "clear" the page each time and cut and paste your text into it as opposed to opening a word document and clicking on the tool bar for an instant start.

Patrick - yes that is how I use it, but given the fact I pay the fee it would be great if I could use it within word and not deal with copy and pasting or doing them individually. Thanks for sharing.

But if I'm paying the same money as a PC user pays why I shouldn't have the same services available? For the amount we are paying the mac version should already be ready!! It is a shame and discrimination!!!

Totally agree with Ruth: same fees, same services available. I'll quit from this service when my subscription finishes. Cliente assistance is zero. No one takes in consideration our complains!!!

I agree....it is a problem.  As you can see from my first comment above...Mac users make up at least 25%...maybe 35% of Higher Ed users...anyone have another tool like this that's good for Mac's?  I'm gone if there is

I'd like to add my vote for a mac version.  This would really add value to your product.  Several mac colleagues of mine said they don't like the idea of cutting and pasting only to lose their formatting on long documents.  At the very least, you could work around that and take formatting input from the clipboard and preserve it after it finishes checking.  Thanks.

I think that Grammarly is still living in the dreams of small college IT departments twenty years ago. These "authorities"  told everyone who would listen that Apple and the Macintosh were going to go away.  Folks, please swallow the crow and come into the 21st Century. Apple is here to stay.

I notice also that the web crawler that is used by Grammarly to look for plagiarism is quite weak. In the manuscript I tested, Grammarly only caught half of the plagiarized text actually there, and missed sites so obvious that anyone could find these with a simple Google search for text.

I am still impressed with the concept and the way in which Grammarly picks out things that take hours for teachers to find and mark. This could be developed into a powerful tool for editors too. Grammarly is useful enough to be quite valuable as a long-term development, unlike a computer game that goes obsolete as soon as enthusiasts get bored. The fact there is value makes ignoring the Mac seems a good or dangerous business decision. It is good if they are hoping for a buyout; bad if Apple just decides to do this by themselves.  By deliberately not serving the Mac, they are just begging for an enterprising software engineer at Apple to put a competing proofreading checker linked to a powerful cloud search engine into a version of  iWorks.   Thereafter Office would likely feel need to do same.  Once these capabilities appear in the Office Suite, there is no need for a third party software like Grammarly on Macs or PCs.

meanwhile, just have to stick to the inconveniences of cutting and pasting until there is another similar product that works with Mac. so, for those mac user like myself this is the total package when you decide to use Mac instead of PC.

How wonderful this would be if only it were able to have developed a Mac  plug-in for Microsoft Word.  The day that grammarly  decides to support the multitude of Mac users with Microsoft Word plug-ins, this will be the day that I sign up for life.  I am a full-time forensic death investigator who is also a full-time student gearing towards a degree in criminal justice.  This would be the most fantastic development I would hope to see in the near future.  Until then,  I must say adieu.

Nice application...but I can tell from the thread the "company" is not listening to the feedback. So, I'm going to use my best tool for delivering a message. I will cancel my subscription after only (30 days) of good use.

Back in October the "We are taking your feedback into consideration..." was the last response to customers. Based on this weak showing,  one has to agree with Rob J.  that we likely won't see any Mac version from these owners. After a buyout occurs, then maybe.

No Mac version? Cheaper rates then for online only users. That is only fair. I am learning the language and it takes a lot of my time this copy and pasting....

Ridiculous! I will not pay money for this crap. I go to Reed College and they only use Mac computers. It is the way of the future. Get hip. The people who need this tool and will use it on a regular basis are the ones you should be targeting, i.e., higher education.

Allison, I am convinced that the Grammarly folks really don't care. This looks like an outfit on a temporary plan seeking a buyout. It is almost as if no one is minding the store here. It would be a great tool in hands of good managers who care about their customers.

Please use some of the money we are giving you to make a mac version.  It is not that complex.

If I say "pretty please", would that help?  I love your site, but the copy paste thing is highly annoying.

I am a dedicated Mac user but frequently I am forced to use a PC for work. Because the windows world accounts for approximately 90 percent of the world wide market share, the software may not be monetarily feasible. The cost of developing a Mac plugin may be more than Grammarly would like to spend. However, if Grammarly would perform the analysis and provide us, the consumers, with the price tag, I'm sure we could find a way to raise the funds. Perhaps a telethon fund raising method would suffice where they show a real time graph as to how far we've come and how far we sill have yet to go. I believe in their abilities and really hope that soon, we will have the product we need.
